At an auction in New York gallery Spink Shreves Galleries auction held at which were exhibited the most rare and precious collection of stamps. The most popular brand was the copy with the image of former U.S. President Abraham Lincoln.
To get this rare, one of the collectors overlaid round sum – about $ 2 million. Stamps, 90 cents par value, were issued in 1869.
These brands have come up for auction from the collection of a former executive director of KPMG William Ainsworth, who inherited them from his father more than 40 years ago. Until 1977, William Ainsworth did not even suggest what holds value until it met with the head post office, which is dedicated to him in the secrecy stamp.
Since then William Ainsworth was a collector of all, what is portrayed Abraham Lincoln, a brand sold recently for 2 million dollars, became the first instance in his collection. It includes American brand of XIX and XX century, depicting 16 of the U.S. President and other rarities.
